What does your typical patient look like?

My typical knee patient is usually middle aged or older and a little to a lot overweight.

Before BioniCare, what was your typical treatment protocol for knee OA?

I used NSAIDS and knee injections. I also used physical therapy. When those options were exhausted, I referred my patients to the orthopedic surgeon for a knee replacement.

How does BioniCare fit into your current treatment protocol?

I use it as a treatment option for anyone with osteoarthritis of the knee which effects their mobility, lifestyle, or ability to exercise. Of course, I try NSAIDS and acetaminophen first.

What type of patient do you prescribe BioniCare for?

I prescribe BioniCare for any patient who no longer gets relief from NSAIDS and/or knee injections. I also recommend trying BioniCare for anyone considering a knee replacement.

Do you have patients that have tried other treatment options? If so, what have been their experiences?

I have many patients who have had total and partial knee replacements. They usually have 3-6 weeks of knee pain or discomfort after the surgery, and they need to be on blood thinners for 1 month. Overall, they do well after their surgery, but sometimes complications ensue.

What advice would you give patients who have been recommended a total knee replacement?

Over half of my patients who have tried BioniCare on one knee have come back and requested a second one for their other knee.

What convinced you to try BioniCare?

I was skeptical at first. Then I had a meeting with the inventor of the BioniCare device. We reviewed the scientific data and after that, I was sold on it.

What do you tell patients who don’t want to wear a brace?

The brace will do more to relieve your pain in the short run, the BioniCare in the long run. As long as they wear the device, they should eventually get relief.

What has been your patients’ reaction to the BioniCare Knee System?

Over half of my patients who have tried BioniCare on one knee have come back and requested a second one for their other knee.

How long are your patients wearing the BioniCare Knee System before they start to see improvement?

The patients with the brace seem to see improvement almost right away. The BioniCare-only patients usually get some relief in 3-4 weeks, but truly need to wear it for over 2000 hours to get the full effect of the device.

Are you seeing an improvement or increase in your patients’ mobility or activity level?

My patients treated with the BioniCare have less knee pain and are able to do the activities they want without worrying if their knee pain will stop them.

What do you think is the single most important thing a patient can do to keep their knees healthy?

The most important thing is to stay active. Activity will help prevent the weight gain I see so often as my patients age. This weight causes excess stress to the knees and can exacerbate pre-existing knee problems.
